Happy fall to everybody!! I hope that you all are enjoying the nice cooler weather that has come our way! I just love this time of year when the leaves begin to change, and you get to sit around watching your favorite sports again. So I hope that everyone takes the time to enjoy all this nice and refreshing weather why we have it!!!

Oktoberfest... Oktoberfest will be on October 8th in the Twin Parks. There will be fun for everyone to enjoy and take part in. There will be a car show, tractors, petting zoo, tons of games for the kids, tons of arts & crafts, food vendors, a 3 & 5 mile run and walk, sidewalk sales, a BBQ cook-off, and so much more!!! There is a "Pumpkin Pie in the Face" contest going on now as well!! Vote at the local banks for which bank employee you want to see have the pumpkin pie in the face that day. There are jars up at the banks for the contestants that are participating in this!!! Everybody come out and enjoy a fun-filled day with so much to do!! For more information, contact the Chamber of Commerce 660-258-7255!!!! There are still FREE booth spaces available to anyone who wants to come out and put a booth up!!!!

The Linn County Historical Society/ Tillman House Museum... they will be having a booth at the Oktoberfest, with a bake sale, quilt raffle tickets (winner to be announced at the park), museum t-shirts and a kids "Pumpkin Carving Contest"!!!! Any age that can pretty much carve their own is welcome to participate. There will be two age groups, and two categories - the first is for the scariest and the second is for most creative. They must be already carved when they bring them. There will be a $3.00 entry fee and $15.00 prize for each age groups and each category. You must bring them up there by 1:00 pm for them to be entered in the contest. Come on out and have fun with them!!!!

Brookfield Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8 am-noon in Tormey Park. All growers & crafters are welcome. Shoppers... it's getting time for all those homegrown veggies so come meet our new vendors along with the old.

The Hope Haven Recycling Trailer will return next month to Southside Equipments parking lot at the Brookfield Plaza October 5-12. Hope Haven will continue to empty each Friday & Monday mornings and pick back up on Wednesday!!!

Sean Smith from KU... he will be coming to Reel Time Cinema on October 16th from 2-4 to do a presentation on iPads and assistive communication apps for children with special needs. This presentation is free and open to parents, teachers, and therapist. Contact Kathy McCurry for more info.

Whistle Stop... Whistle Stop is now closed, and Diedre will be moving back to Alaska. She will be missed by many, and she will miss all the kind people here as well. I wish Diedre the best of luck in her next chapter she will take in life!!!!

Friends for Brenda Billings... to help her with medical expenses they are having a booth of baked goods set up October 8th during Oktoberfest in the Twin Parks in Brookfield. Please everyone come and support her and help her through this.
