"Chamber Chatter"
This fall weather has been feeling so nice lately!!! I have been enjoying it by drinking my hot coca and watching NASCAR. To me
there's nothing better to remind me of fall than those two things!! But whatever you enjoy doing in the fall, I hope that you are making the best of it and taking it all in. Now
here's my October Chamber Chatter for you...
Oktoberfest...
Oktoberfest was so much fun this year!! I would like to thank everyone that came out and set up a booth and
everyone that came and supported it!!! It was a wonderful day and everything turned out great!! Thanks again for all of our sponsors that helped make this event happen!!!
The Hope Haven Recycling Trailer will return next month to Southside Equipments parking lot at the Brookfield Plaza November 9th-16th. Hope Haven will continue to empty each Friday & Monday mornings and pick back up on Wednesday!!!
Christmas
Parade... This year the Christmas Parade will take place on Friday December
2, with lineup starting at 5:00 PM and the Parade starting at 5:30 PM. The theme this year for the parade is
"Miracle on Main St." with our Grand Marshals being any veteran from the wars and any person who is still fighting!! If you would like to take part in this, please contact the Chamber for more information!!! We will be handing out trophies in
three different categories and they are: Marching Bands, Local Business, and
Organization!!! It's free to enter the parade; so if you want to make a float or just be a part of the parade, contact the Chamber to register.
Holiday
Mart... The Holiday Mart with be on Saturday, December 3, at the High School
gym and cafeteria. Setup begins at 8:00am that morning, and the booths will open at 11:00am and go until 4:00pm. Booths will be assigned as the people return their slip with full payment. A booth costs $25.00
for a 10x10 space. If you are non-profit, then the cost is $10.00 for a booth. Spots are still available and forms are at the Chamber of Commerce, so stop by or contact the Chamber if you are interested in participating this year!!!
YMCA...
They are having their annual fundraiser on November 18 at the Elks Lodge. For more information on this,
contact the YMCA at 660-258-2388.
Chamber
Members... I would like to welcome our NEW members to the Chamber: MS Contracting owned and operated by Mike
Sattman, Sprague's Locker owned and operated by Dennis Sprague and family, Sayre Auction owned and operated by Bill and Shawn Sayre.
I'm so glad that these businesses are now a part of the Chamber. Look them up on the chamber website and call them up!!
Ribbon
Cuttings... The last three weeks, we have had a ribbon cutting!!!! The first one
was at Cornerstone Collectibles!!! They offer a variety of items from primitives, purses, jewelry, dips, and soooo much more!!! The next ribbon cutting was for 99.1 KDWD radio station out of Marceline. They play a variety of country music and
have trivia games for you to play and prizes. The last ribbon cutting was at the Applegate Medical Building. We welcomed Dr. Alex & Dr. Grace Dymek to the area!!! They are great people, and we are so lucky to have them here in our community now!!!!
Modern Championship
Wrestling... Promoted by the Linn County Leader's Dustin Watson is holding a benefit show for the Marceline Tigers Booster Club on November 18 featuring a double Main Event featuring first-time matches. Jack
"The Hangman" Norton defends the MCW Championship in a three-way Marceline Street Fight against Austin Storm and Tony Raze.
"The Iceman" Howard Moritz defends the MCW Missouri Championship against Jack Gamble in a Ladder Match!
Brookfield
Elk's Lodge... They will be hosting a "Jimmy Buffett" night. Gary Sluhan will be performing music by Jimmy Buffett, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, and more!!!! Tickets can be purchased from Melanie Selmon or at the Lodge. Tickets are $15.00 per couple in advance or $20.00 per couple at the door. This is open to
"Members and Guests" and island attire is requested but not required!
City Sign
Design... They will be moving to the Brookfield Plaza by the end of this
year. They will close Thanksgiving and reopen at the Plaza on December 15! Location will be in the old Walsworth training
facility. They are moving because they have outgrown their current building. They would like to thank everyone for their continued support!

Library... They are announcing an easy way to discover new books and authors by visiting Brookfield Public

My Country 99.1
KDWD... With studios and offices in Marceline, they serve the entire region from Hamilton and Chillicothe from the west over to Shelbina to the east, Kirksville to the North and south to Carrollton, Marshall and Moberly. My Country 99.1 KDWD is operated by Mytown Media, a privately owned company headquartered in Pittsburg, Kansas, with 8 radio stations that serve small markets in Kansas, along with 2 stations that serve the Pittsburg/Joplin market. My Country 99.1 KDWD is the 11th station and newest for the company. Along with a great music format

McDonald's...
Larry and Kathy McCurry would like to thank everyone that helped make a successful 20-year anniversary at
McDonalds. With your continued patronage, they are looking forward to the next 20 years!
Back Road
Cruizers... They invited me and my Husband Shawn to their last meeting so we can start planning and talking about the future events for next year!! They are
a great bunch of people that love going around and doing car shows!! They take great pride in everything that they do and I just love seeing it!! We have some great ideas that were discussed and I can’t wait to get started on it!! Trust me we want them to be around for years and years because they do some great things!!!
I'm glad I get to be a part in helping with this group!!
Tillman
House... Everyone from the Tillman House Museum would like to say thanks to everybody who helped make the booth at the Oktoberfest a
huge success!! Also they are closing for the season, so this is their last week until May next year. Please go by and see them
- you will be surprised at how much history they have accumulated in the short time
they've been open. Hours are Wednesday thru Saturday 10am to 3pm. Thanks for giving them another great season!
