This piece of news is urgent so it goes 1st…Our neighbor in Marceline “Cupp Chevrolet” has received the letter for possible closure in October 2010. Please help show your support by sending a letter to the dealership by May 22nd. They need 10,000 letters to present their case to GM. Chamber Lunch was held today at “A Step Back in
Time”. Our speaker Marcia Cunningham from BAGP updated us on the new 3-plex Movie Theatre under construction at the Brookfield Shopping Center, the new Highway 36 Tourism Group that reaches from St Joe to Hannibal and she gave us a quick update on the Sesquicentennial. This was our last Chamber Lunch till September. Please join us in the Fall. Thanks to Janice Merritt for our great meals!!!
A Ribbon Cutting will be held for new Chamber Member “Linn County Computer Repair” this Thursday at
10 a.m. Owner Joe Duey comes to us from Marceline and is open and ready for business at 305 N. Main inside the Main Street Mini Mall at the old Shelter Insurance office.

is off to a roaring start. Each Saturday from 8 a.m.-Noon, we invite you to join us at Tormey Park. New shoppers and vendors are always welcome…just call the chamber office if you need more info!!!
Brookfield Summer Fun Days
is only 3 weeks away…June 4,5,6 & 7. The Carnival will be here Thursday (arm band night), Friday, & Saturday (arm band afternoon). Thursday Night is also the Queen Contest with Jennifer Ludington as the co-coordinator. You can call her @ 348-8556. Farrel Hahn & his Variety Band will play Friday night at the Gazebo and the car cruise will also be that night. Of course Saturday is the SFD’s Parade, Sidewalk Sales, YMCA’s 5 & 10 K run, Car Show, Baby Show, Petting Zoo, Arts & Crafts Festival, Lawn Mower Races, Little Toot Toot Train, and Talent Show. We have a new Motorcycle Show this year hosted by “Widow’s Sons Masonic Riding Association”. Something else that’s
new...“Remedy Drive” a young Christian Rock Band, playing at the Park Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Saturday evening at

Brookfield Public Library Events begin June 1st with a Summer reading program for age groups birth-7 and 8-12 and teens. Their Annual Book Sale is June 5th between

June 4th Life Care will be taking their residents to the Marceline Community Center

The 33rd “Great Pershing Balloon Derby” will be held September 3rd-7th this year. The date for
Oktoberfest in the Park has been changed to October 10th to coincide with Homecoming and the 2nd Annual Brookfield Bar-B-Q Contest.
Our flowerpots look beautiful…the banners are
hung…the high school volunteers did a paint up/ clean up around town yesterday and the city is out in force painting and fixing and mowing and cleaning. Thanks to you all…now let’s follow their lead and clean up around our homes and businesses. We have a lot of company coming this Summer and we want to look our best!!!!!
