"Chamber Chatter"
I’m so glad it’s March….Winter is over (oh, don’t let me jinx us)...Ryan Jacobs has painted our old flower pots (they look so good) and the Heartland Master Gardeners are getting ready to plant them…The Snowflake banners will switch to Flowers and big Suns…and the trees are starting to bud. Well…these are sure signs that we have made it to Spring!!! Let me wish a Happy Birthday to “Khloie” Granddaughter #2 who is 3 this month!!! And now I better get started, so much news.
Brookfield’s Recycling Program has been a big hit. The trailer filled to overflowing before the week was up and had to be emptied. Hope Haven
will set up its recycling trailer at the NW corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot again next month from April 8th-15th.
Another chance to recycle will be March 26th at “Bright Beginnings” (pre-school by Brookfield Elementary). They accept most everything (from what I understand), and the proceeds go to help buy equipment for the school. Also
Senate Bill 40 accepts all clothing, shoes, purses, aluminum and used household electronics. What they can’t use in the Senate Bill 40 store they take to Laclede and recycle. Let’s not forget that
Green Hills Recyclers in Laclede accepts used motor oil, car & truck batteries, computers, TV’s (hey, nobody wants tv’s) along with the full recycling line of metals, paper, plastic, clothes, shoes etc. NO Glass though. I’m still looking for a glass recycler. It’s great to know that so many people in our community are recycling!!!
Chamber Lunch was held today at “A Step Back in Time”. Our speaker was City Manager, Dave Hane who explained all about the water/sewer bond issue that is on the ballot for April 7th. It was not only very important information but very interesting. You are always welcome to join us the 3rd Wed. of each month…the food is great & the speakers are always informative. Next month Chamber lunch is on April 15th.
Ribbon Cutting will be held at the “Best Rest Motel” formerly Brookfield Pines, on Thursday (Mar. 19th) @ 10am.
