Brookfield, Missouri - “A
Great Place to Land!”
March, 2008
"Chamber Chatter"
Hello from the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, and a “Happy Spring” to you all!!! It’s been a long winter this year, or as I get older it just seems like that!!! It’s invigorating to hear the birds singing again and I know my fat cat is definitely due for some exercise. The new Green Hills phone books are expected any day but they haven’t arrived yet. Still have Brookfield City/County Maps and the new Missouri Vacation Planners. A very special “Happy Birthday” to my 2nd granddaughter Khloie who turns 3 next week.
I’ve had it up to my eyeballs hearing our lovely town get bashed by negative comments. Hey, Brookfield is not perfect…neither is the world. We may not have all the small business we would like, but it’s hard to maintain a mom & pop store these days, and that’s not just in Brookfield. If you think it’s that simple, we welcome you to open one. We have a good community here with excellent schools, modern health facilities, beautiful parks, 18 Churches, a senior center,
YMCA, swimming pool, ball fields, golf course, farmers market, a variety of eating establishments, new airport, good roads and low cost housing. Our crime rate is low,
and we provide jobs for more than just our community. Why is it that the people actually trying to make improvements in Brookfield are the ones that are criticized??? Are you doing something to help??? Get involved…see what is really going on…have pride in your community…pick up someone else’s litter…Shop your Local Merchants…and…don’t listen to
naysayer’s.!!!
At Chamber Lunch today,
our speaker was Diane Lambert, Head Dietician @ Pershing Memorial Hospital. March is “National Nutrition Month” and Diane spoke to us about healthier living thru better nutrition. Next month we have Sprague’s Market catering our Chamber lunch while Donna takes some time out to catch up with her own business.
