"Chamber Chatter"
Hello again from the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. All the wonderful rain we’ve had lately has the potted flowers on Main Street growing and blooming up a storm. My garden is growing like crazy too, but there won’t be any fruit on the fruit trees this year. Looking at the bright side, I won’t have to pick up the fallen fruit all summer. A bit of personal joy, my son Cheyenne is getting married to long time girlfriend, Julie Moseley of Mendon this Saturday...Congrats you two!!!
The new Green Hills Phone Books are arriving today. Stop by if you need extra copies. Also, have a big stack of “State Fair” Flyers and “Old Thrashers” Flyers to give away and of course the Missouri Vacation Guides and Brookfield City Maps. The Chamber Office is open Mon. thru Fri. from 10AM-4PM.
Even though the rain tried to dampen our event, we had a great Summer Fun Days. The YMCA’s 5 & 10K runs went off without a hitch, even though the Y’s 3 on 3 had to be postponed to a later date. Jennifer Ludington did a great job on the Queen contest and Baby Show and we look forward to her helping us at the Balloon Derby this year. The carnival did a nice job even though the weather thru a few hitches in their plans and the 3 concerts at the Gazebo were enjoyed by young & old alike. I loved the Aquarium that was on display at the Fire Station and the kids gave us a great presentation of their skate boarding skills. It was a shame the rain kept the Car Show out of the Park but they had a nice crowd out at the Brookfield Plaza and Orscheln had tractors on display and other fun things for the kiddies going on. Can’t forget the crowd pleasing MWDTA Lawn Mower Races. They put on quite a show. And wasn’t it a nice big parade…lots and lots of queens, cars & tractors…and KC Wolf…Thank you to the Park Baptist Church for getting him here. Don’t want to forget the Shriners and their little fire trucks. Sunday’s adult fishing tournament at City Lake finished up the event and we hope you all enjoyed the weekend.
A new event next month will be the “Pepsi Summerfest Car Show & Music Festival” on Saturday, July 28th. This event will be held in the Twin Parks and on North Main Street. Live Bands will be playing all through the day and as many as 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles are expected. The cars from the Dukes of Hazzard will be special guests of the event along with the MWDTA Lawn Mower Racers. Craft booths will be available for only $10 and there will be a cruise on Friday night starting at the Walmart Parking Lot. For more info call 258-4706 or e-mail at
jp_events@yahoo.com.
Our new Dentist has arrived and is getting his office set up at 222 N. Main. His name is Rodney Friesenhahn D.D.S. and the phone number is 258-7822. I haven’t gotten to meet him yet so I don’t know much more than he’s from Texas. More later.
Since I have used up all my room all I can do is introduce our newest Chamber Members for now. Verona Beardon with Ceebrook Creative Concepts, Brookfield Best Western Motel, Carey Smith our new Career Center Administrator, Riddle Farms, Tom Shively 8th Dist State Rep, and KFC/Taco Bell. We welcome you all to the Brookfield Chamber.
Well, this month has just flown by…If you should have a question on anything that’s going on, please feel free to call the chamber office @ 258-7255 or e-mail
chamber@brookfieldmochamber.com. Till next month…thanks for reading “CHAMBER CHATTER”!!!
