Brookfield, Missouri - “A
Great Place to Land!”
January, 2008
"Chamber Chatter"
Happy 2008 from the Brookfield Chamber...This time of year we’re getting our dates finalized for our upcoming events. Chamber Chatter is always published the 3rd Wednesday of the month and I would gladly announce any events your group or organization may have. We have a fresh stock of local phone books, plenty of Brookfield Maps and the new 2008 Missouri Vacation Planner has arrived. All Free of course!!!
Brookfield Bucks have provided a big boost to the “Shop Local” awareness. This is a continuous campaign and the Bucks don’t expire, so think about giving them next time you need a gift. We had a real Holiday boost with over $14,000 in Brookfield Bucks being sold. Thank you all.
At Chamber Lunch today, City Manager Dave Hane spoke on the Municipal GIS (Geographic Information System) Applications. “Mapping Our Community Today With Tomorrow In Mind.” As technology improves it’s really nice to know that the City of Brookfield is keeping up. Chamber lunches are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at noon and you are always welcome to join us.
I got up early Saturday morning and joined the gentlemen at VFW Post 4557 for breakfast. Had a great meal and enjoyed some good company. This is a fund raiser for the VFW and your attendance would be appreciated. It’s Saturday mornings starting at 6am…located at 114 E. Wood Street. Cost is a free will donation.
Looks like Wendy O’Toole is just about finished with the Booster Clubs “Brookfield Bulldog” Trash Can which will sit outside Monarch Title where the Booster Club’s Dog Pound is located. Next one to be painted is sponsored by the Elks Club and will sit at the corner of Main & E. Wood St. Stanbury’s is next but I don’t know where it will be placed. We love Cleveland R/E’s hunting scene and the Hot Air Balloons sponsored by NCM Graphics. They really dress up the town. (Heh, its not easy making a trash can look classy!!!) Wendy would welcome local artists to volunteer to help with this project. Our thanks to the City for getting them primed and ready for Wendy to paint.
The “Business by Category” section is ready for the Chamber Website. The information is complete and links will be placed to those businesses with websites.
This was quite a lengthy undertaking, getting all the info coordinated, but soon the world can see who we are and what we have to offer. You’ll find it under
“Our Members”.
Great Northwest Day in Jefferson City is coming up fast. On February 5th & 6th the area communities and counties in Northwest Missouri have an opportunity to present issues that affect our region to our legislators, and to promote awareness and influence legislation that will benefit Northwest Missouri & the entire state. If you would like to represent your City or County, please contact the IDA office at 258-7278 for registration information.
June 5,6,7,& 8 are the dates for Brookfield Summer Fun Days 2008. The Carnival contract is signed and plans are underway for the Car Show, Baby Show, Queen Contest, Gazebo Concerts, Arts & Crafts Festival, Fishing Tournament, Lawn Mower Races and more. Interest in a Talent Show has been mentioned. Any ideas you may have will be appreciated.
If you should have a question on anything that’s going on, please feel free to call the chamber office @ 258-7255 or e-mail
