Brookfield, Missouri - “A Great Place to Land!”

August, 2007
"Chamber Chatter"

Hello again from the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. Sorry I missed you all last month, but I took a quickie vacation to New Orleans. They have had a lot of hardships but have bounced back remarkably. The French Quarters were really clean and bustling with tourist. It just shows what a little perseverance can do.

There will be a blood drive at the Elks Lodge in Brookfield on Thursday August 30th from 2-6pm… This is a special Blood Drive to pay tribute to the victims, survivors and emergency responders of 9/11. All presenting donors will receive a special 9/11 Hardbound photo book titled America’s Heroes. Please know that your help is needed now more than ever! The American Red Cross continues to be on Emergency Appeal because our Blood Supply is critically Low. To contact the American Red Cross to set up a Blood Drive, please contact Michael Waddle @ 573-356-1218.

Welcome new Chamber member Rodney Friesenhahn, DDS. His office address is 222 N. Main and phone number is 258-7822. Welcome!!!

I thought that the Pepsi Summerfest Car Show & Music Fest was a total success. It was really nice having an additional event this summer. What a great job Joey & Josh Peek did. They have said that it will happen again next year, even bigger and better!!! Thank you.

It is just about time for the “31st Great Pershing Balloon Derby”. The Chamber office receives many calls each day from people wanting info on the Balloon Derby. I think we must take for granted what a unique event we have. The Queen Contest is Thursday night (August 30th) at 6pm, at the Twin Park Gazebo…Friday night has 5 balloons set up on South Main Street from 8-9 pm…Saturday all day there are Sidewalk Sales Downtown, and Arts and Crafts booths set up in Twin Parks with a Baby Show at 9am and a really big Balloonists Parade at Noon…Saturday Night is a free dance at the Elks Club with Mid-Life Crisis playing 9pm-1am…The Balloon Flights are Sat/Sun & Mon at 7:15 am and Sat & Sun afternoon at 6:00 pm. After each afternoon flight there will be an evening glow. All flights are at the launch field on FF. Weekend passes can be purchased at NCM Graphics or the Chamber office. You can get a Craft Form or print off a schedule of events on the chambers website. With all the out of town visitors coming this Labor Day Weekend, I hope you will help spruce up Brookfield by cleaning the area around your neighborhood. Lets Shine!!!

Oktoberfest will be held on Sat. October 6th, at the East Twin Park. Again the Chamber will host a Chili contest, (which I lost again last year, ugh)…an apple pie contest for kids and an apple & pumpkin pie contest for adults. We will have a “FREE” Arts, Crafts, Antique, Flea Market day at the park and you can get signed up by calling the Chamber Office. It was a whole lot of fun last year so put it on your calendar.

Well, another month has flown by…If you should have a question on anything that’s going on, please feel free to call the chamber office @ 258-7255 or e-mail chamber@brookfieldmochamber.com. Till next month…thanks for reading “CHAMBER CHATTER”!!!
