Great Place to Land!”

"Chamber Chatter"
Hello from the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, and a “oh my gosh, my skin is pale” happy day to you all!!! Instead of my normal chattery intro, I want to
Thank the many caring individuals & businesses who purchased tickets and donated auction items and made just plain ole $$$ donations. What they gave, they gave for all you out there in Brookfield & the surrounding area. It may not seem like much to you sometimes, but there wouldn’t be a
Summer Fun Days or a Farmers Market or even a Christmas Parade with out the caring people in our wonderful town of Brookfield. The Chamber could not sponsor these events without the funds raised during the membership drive and Annual Banquet & Auction. My many thanks & I tip my hat to you all!!!!! Oh, this will be my last Happy Birthday for the year…to my only Grandson “Zackary” who turns 8 next week…Happy Birthday!!!
Have so much to tell you about…where to start??? The Chamber’s Annual Banquet & Auction was last Thursday the 10th. What a great crowd and fun time we had at the Elk’s Club Ballroom. Farrell Hahn’s Band played and Stan Monnig catered the meal and Mark & Mike Smith again entertained us with their Auctioneering skills!!! Bob & Pat Clawson, Stanbury Uniforms, Inc. & Martin House Motel & Restaurant were honored for being a Brookfield Business for 50 years from 1958-2008…Josh Fay gave us an update on the Sesquicentennial. BAGP gave their Citizen of the Year Awards along with a special Legacy Foundation Award. We said good-bye to our old Officers & Board members: Shane Thudium, old Treasurer Mike Harris & outgoing President, Jarrod Black. We also welcomed in new members Abby Sattman of “Keep it Simple”, Deloris Sickler of “Wal-Mart” & Larry Shew of “North Missouri Data, LLC”. The 2008-2009 President is Marcia Cunningham, Vice-Pres. Dave Hane, Treasurer Teri Yardley & Secretary, Carol Hunziker. Kathy McCurry & Tom Morris continue as 2nd year Board Members. Another great Chamber Board this year.!!! Welcome!!!
At Chamber Lunch today, our speaker was Donna Martin, Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Transportation. This is a great program that keeps our roadways free of litter & debris. There are still sections of Highway 36 and other secondary routes available for adoption. You can call Donna toll free @ 1-888-275-6636. Sprague’s Market was the caterer today & will also cater May’s lunch. Next month will be the last Chamber lunch till September.
